Located in Maggie Valley, North Carolina—just five miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway—Dale’s Wheels Through Time Museum is world-renowned as "The Museum That Runs." Founded in 1993 by late motorcycle historian Dale Walksler and relocated to Maggie Valley in 2002, this 38,000-square-foot facility houses the world’s premier collection of rare, vintage American motorcycles and historic automobiles.
Unlike static museum displays, almost all of the 300+ vintage motorcycles and rare vehicles are maintained in fully operational condition. Staff regularly kick-start engines for visitors, bringing early American transportation history to life through sight, sound, and smell.
Features rare models from legendary American makers including Harley-Davidson, Indian, Excelsior, Henderson, Crocker, and Flying Merkel.
Walk through immersive displays showcasing board-track racers, hillclimbers, original-paint unrestored machines, early American dirt-track racers, choppers, and one-of-a-kind prototypes.
Beyond two-wheeled machines, the museum houses historic, unique vehicles—such as classic 1930s Packards and Lincolns, custom roadsters, a 1915 Locomobile, and rare "one-off" concept cars.
Each year, the museum restores a classic American motorcycle to raffle off, raising funds to continue its mission of preserving transportation heritage.
